BACKGROUND:

Skip Carter is a native of Ohio where he attended the University of Cincinnati and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.  After graduation Skip went to work with Mosser Construction, a nationally known general contractor based in Toledo, Ohio.  He stayed with Mosser for his entire career, starting as a carpenter and retiring as CEO of the company.  In the middle of his career, while working as Senior Project Manager, he taught a Construction Management curriculum at Bowling Green State University.  He has also served as a Facilitator and is a strong advocate for Partnering in construction. He has served on several construction industry Boards of Directors.  Skip retired and moved with his wife to Tennessee in 2000.

EXPERIENCE:

Carter’s experience with Mosser has covered every facet of construction.  He has served as superintendent, estimator, operations manager, vice president, president and CEO.  In 1972 he moved to Vancouver, British Columbia to establish a satellite office for Mosser.  Later, Skip was responsible for bringing Partnering to Mosser and has received the AGC’s “Marvin Black Excellence in Partnering” National Award.  Also, as CEO of Mosser, he was awarded the AGC’s “2000 Build America Award.”  He was a part of Mosser’s establishment of an ESOP, and served for years as Trustee.  He has held every office in the Ohio Contractor’s Association and was inducted in the OCA’s Hall of Fame in 1999.  Skip joined Professional Construction Consulting, Inc. in 2000.

QUALIFICATIONS:

By any standard it is indeed rare for someone to stay with one company throughout his entire career, and retire as its CEO.  Such an accomplishment would not be possible without exceptional organization, management and leadership skills.  Skip has the unique blend of one who enjoys the work of the self-performance crafts yet has the skills to manage and grow a company into one of Ohio’s largest general contractors.  These credentials have resulted in Skip being selected as President and/or Director of community organizations, Advisor to Community Colleges, and Trustee for construction related monetary funds.
